Esperienze di quasi realtà

Abstract:

In every society there is a link between the specific concepts of sickness and health and a specific vision of human nature and meaning in life. Although modern biomedicine has focused on issues of health such as the physical state of the body, the modern world has also witnessed a return to the relationship between health and salvation as a transcendental view of physical trauma. Within this cultural frame, the sense and meaning of the 'evil eye' may be found. In contemporary society, the concept of the evil eye draws on both traditional and modern ways of thinking. This paper discusses the subject from the point of view of medical anthropology and tries to relate the issues of the evil eye to other distinctive features of contemporary life.
