Plurima vultu mater inest. La prevalenza del modello materno nell’Achilleide di Stazio
Graziana Brescia
Abstract:
This contribution suggests an interpretation of the deceit and the disguise of the young Achilles in Skyros in Statius’s Achilleid in an antropological perspective. Achilles’ deviation from heroic identity is attributed to the central role assiged to Thetis in this phase and, therefore, to the predominance of the maternal model over the paternal one which determines an overturning of the cultural code.
