Paure ancestrali e rimedi popolari. La perdita del latte materno nella cultura greca e lucana
Roberto Grossi
Abstract:
The article aims to compare certain aspects related to the fear of milk loss in Greek and Lucanian cultures. Starting with the figure of Gello, who roamed houses to smother infants and dry mothers’ breasts, the analysis explores the reasons behind her transformation into hair and the theft of milk. Furthermore, the article examines a comparison between these beliefs and counterparts within Lucanian folklore, including the “pilo a’ menna” incantation.
