Onomastica etrusca e gender studies. Il caso del metronimico
Léa van Hulle - Tabacchi
Abstract:
This contribution is about the etruscan metronimic, an onomastical element
made on the gentilicium of the mother who’s located in the onomastical formulas of the funerary inscriptions of etruscan speakers. The aim of this contribution is understanding how an onomastical element made it possible to have new perspectives on the gender role of an etruscan woman, and how much is important the maternal filiation in the etruscan world, through different example of onomastical formulas in Etruria. With a sociolinguistical
approach, i show that the metronimic can either be a way to demonstrate a social status or a testimony of a better consideration of the mother in the etruscan societies.
