Classici contro. Storia di un'idea per fuggire dal freezer

Abstract:

The aim of this paper is to explain the genesis of the project Classici contro. The idea, developed together with Filippomaria Pontani, is to bring the voice of the ancient classics – with their freedom of speech and their critical thinking – to historical theaters, and now to Vicenza's Teatro Olimpico, designed by Andrea Palladio. Like Tragedy and Comedy in the Theater of Dionysus in ancient Athens, the Classics speak for all citizens. In a globalized world, the classical Greek and Roman authors may contribute to an understanding of the present and to think about the future.
