Abstract:

Arks, chests, baskets and similar containers are objects related to the childhood of heroes and gods in Greek mythology. Drawing on the different treatments given to this theme in ancient literature and art, in this paper we analyse the Greek imaginary of the mother-son relationship in the myths of two heroes, Perseus and Meleager, closely linked with a chest.
